AES is an international forum for research on electromagnetic waves and their interaction with natural, artificial and structured media, across the spectrum from radio frequencies and microwaves to terahertz and optics. Its scope encompasses the fundamental physics of wave generation, radiation, propagation and scattering, with particular emphasis on antennas and radiating structures, metamaterials and metasurfaces, photonic crystals, microwave and terahertz technologies, plasmonics and nanophotonics.
The conference brings together theoretical, computational and experimental advances in the modelling, design, fabrication and characterisation of materials, structures, devices and systems for controlling electromagnetic waves, including emerging phenomena across classical and quantum regimes. Each edition combines peer-reviewed contributed papers with invited lectures, focused symposia, special sessions and tutorials.
AES 2027 marks the thirteenth edition of the conference and its first gathering in Athens. Proceedings from previous editions are available through the AES archive, with published volumes indexed in Scopus.

Since 2012
The first AES was held in Paris in April 2012 as the Advanced Electromagnetics Symposium. The conference has since met in Sharjah, Hangzhou, Málaga, Incheon, Marseille, Lisbon, Marrakesh, Torremolinos, Rome, Tangier and Catania, taking its present name, the International Conference on Antennas and Electromagnetic Systems, from the 2022 edition. AES 2027 is the thirteenth edition and the first held in Athens.

A permanent record
The proceedings of every edition are published online as one open-access volume, under ISSN 2491-2417 since 2016 and indexed in Scopus. The paper submitted for review is the paper published; at least one author registers and presents it.
